Larry (Lawrence) David Packer, age 75, of Woodland Park, New Jersey, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at his home. Born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Harvey and Selma Packer, he was raised in Elmont, NY and had been a resident of Woodland Park, NJ for over 20 years.
Larry had a passion for music of all kinds, and enjoyed playing chess online with friends from around the world. A voracious reader and enthusiast for intellectual challenges, Larry took pleasure in completing the New York Times crossword puzzles. He loved watching everyone in his family grow into their own person and took great pride in their accomplishments.
Larry is survived by his wife, Maura Gallagher-O'Brien; his daughter Alissa Packer and his son-in-law, Tony Bateman; his daughter, Sarah Packer-Koenigsberg; his stepson, Riley O'Brien; his step-daughter, Julia Bachman (Rob); and his six cherished grandchildren: Isaac, Gabriel, Maya, Madeline, Evelyn, and Eddie; his sister, Jane Packer and his first wife, Patricia Packer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Larry's name may be directed to the Woodland Park Library (abwplibrary.org) which supported his passion for reading, or to his favorite charity: Doctors Without Borders (DoctorsWithoutBorders.org).
