MURPHY - Kathleen A., 66, of Newport News VA (formerly of Medford, NY) on February 8, 2015. Kathy retired from the US Navy as a Senior Chief after serving 29 years as an engineman. She served aboard many ships and retired from the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. An avid Harley rider, Kathy belonged to the 'Ladies Of Harley' and H.O.G., the 'Harley Owners Group'. For 24 years, Kathy fought a valiant fight against breast cancer. Beloved daughter of the late James P. & Elinor G. Murphy. Loving sister of Gerry Reidy, Maureen (& John) Bogenshutz, Brian Murphy and Daniel Murphy. Cherished aunt of Denise Terribile, Daniel Reidy, Erin (& Joe) Reardon, Tara (& Chris) Tosi, Brendan (& Stephanie) Reidy, Kristin (& Jack) Bishop, Lauren (& Ryan) Hogan, Lt. Michael P. Murphy, John Murphy, Devin Murphy and Michele Murphy. Great aunt of Abigail Bishop, Charlotte Bishop and Jameson Hogan. Adored 'Grandma Kate' to Ryan Terribile, James Terribile, Alex Baki, Roarke Tosi, Cian Tosi and Ellie Tosi. Dearest friend of Gloria McCuistion and Sandra Norris. Family to receive friends on Wednesday from 4pm to 9pm at the Ruland Funeral Home, 500 North Ocean Avenue (South of LIE Ext 63) in Patchogue, NY. On Thursday at 9:30am, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Sylvester's RC Church in Medford NY. Interment with military honors to follow in Calverton National Cemetery.
