I just opened your email. Coincidences surprise me no longer. Though this one did. Last night, driving north to a concert in NoHo, my girlfriend played an MP3 CD I made for her the day before. On it was Lou Christie's Lightening Strikes Again. We talked about this song and memories conjured.
I told her that only one came to mind and it was a good one. The song brought home a vivid collage of memories driving around Elmont, Valley Stream--remembering Merrick Blvd. for some reason, in particular --and points forgotten. In the night. With Dickstein, Germaine, Cacchioli, myself and assorted interchanging usual suspects. All in this big mother of a late model burgundy colored Mercury something or other, blasting with song and adolescent but good bullshit. The driver was the always impecably dressed and groomed, but wily, Ivan Miller.
Sadly, Ivan's wife Marion passed a short time after Ivan's passing. May they both rest in peace. They are survived by 2 wonderful sons who will carry on their legacies. Sincerely, Mrs. Germaine.
